Citizen-science communication

We design participatory systems that connect people, data and research. From environmental monitoring to community-based data collection, we help organisations structure how data is generated, communicated, understood and used.

Our approach combines citizen engagement, system design and communication. We design for how people actually understand and interact with information in real-world contexts.

Together with Netsoul and IAS CNR , we launched MedSeaPOD , a citizen science initiative endorsed as an Ocean Decade Action by UNESCO. The project started in Sardinia, on the Island of San Pietro (Carloforte), collecting high-resolution coastal sea temperature data where climate change impacts are strongest yet often under-monitored.

Through a distributed network of sensors and the direct involvement of divers, fishers and local communities, MedSeaPOD has expanded to Sant’Antioco, Corsica and the west coast of Sardinia, contributing to the first high-resolution coastal thermal map of the area.

We designed the project’s communication and participatory architecture, translating complex data into accessible, visual and actionable tools for communities, researchers and decision-makers.

Applied to citizen science, communication is not a layer added at the end. It is what activates participation, improves data quality and turns data into shared, usable knowledge with tangible local impact.
